Understanding Your Unique Energetic Configuration with the BodyGraph
The BodyGraph serves as a powerful tool for understanding your unique energetic makeup. By mapping out your energy frequency, it provides insights into your behavior and decision-making approaches. This comprehensive framework enables you to identify recurring patterns in your life, empower you to make more informed choices and cultivate a heightened sense of self-awareness.
The BodyGraph reveals your Type, Strategy, and Authority, the three fundamental tools of awareness, which reveal how you engage with life, how opportunities present themselves to you, and how you make accurate decisions.
Type & Aura: Your Energetic Identity
Type is the foundation of the BodyGraph. It describes what your energy does and your role in the world. Type is determined by your Aura, which shows how your energy moves, exchanges, and expresses itself. Recognizing how your Aura interacts with those around you can provide valuable insights into your relationships and emotional health. By paying attention to the nuances of your aura, you can gain insights into your emotional landscape, improve your relationships, and enhance your overall well-being.
Type describes what your energy does and tells you who you are.
Aura shows how your energy operates.
Strategy & Authority: Your Alignment Tools
Strategy: Your Alignment Path
Strategy teaches you to notice how opportunities arise and how your responses shape your experience. When you follow your Strategy, it helps guide your energy and choices. It shows you the easiest and most natural way to move through your day. When your energy flows smoothly, you create relationships that feel supportive, respectful, and healthy.
By embracing and following your Strategy, you can create a life filled with harmony, support, and joy, while minimizing the negative emotions that can arise from misalignment. This alignment is crucial for achieving a fulfilling and successful life, where your energy flows freely and positively influences the world around you.
Authority — Your Inner Compass
Your Authority teaches you how to make decisions in a way that feels natural and true to you. When you follow your Authority, you make choices that feel steady, confident, and right for your body instead of from pressure, fear, or other people’s expectations. This makes it easier to handle tough situations without getting overwhelmed.
Over time, following your Strategy and Authority helps you build trust in yourself and in the way your energy naturally works.
The Seven Authorities - Decision-Making Guidance
There are seven (7) types of Authorities:
Emotional Authority reveals clarity gradually, through the natural rise and fall of emotional energy, which moves in waves — highs, lows, and neutral points. Clarity emerges when the wave settles. It is the authority of emotional clarity and discernment, and it requires patience, time, and waiting for the emotional wave to settle before truth becomes available.
Sacral Authority communicates through gut responses, energetic expansion, and the unmistakable “uh‑huh / uh‑uh.” A sense of expansion or openness, signals a "yes"; a sense of contraction or tightening signals a "no." It is the authority of aliveness, somatic truth, and energetic response, and it requires real‑time body listening, presence, and trust in the gut’s immediate expansion or contraction.
Splenic Authority is the body’s survival intelligence giving you real time information on what is safe, healthy, correct and aligned in the moment, It is a momentary flash of clarity that appears once, fully formed, and then disappears. is the authority of instinct, subtle intuition, and present‑moment clarity, and it requires quiet awareness, immediate recognition, and trust in the body’s first fleeting signal.
Ego Authority is the voice of authentic desire —knowing what is worth the energy, time, and resources and not from not from obligation, fear, or logic. It is the authority of desire, willpower, and authentic commitment, and it requires radical self‑honesty, desire without guilt, respect for personal capacity, and the courage to act from genuine “I want this.”
Self‑Projected Authority reveals clarity through expression. The truth emerges when it is spoken aloud. It is the authority of identity, direction, and vocal resonance, and it requires honest expression, speaking decisions aloud, and listening for the tone that reveals alignment.
Mental / Environmental Authority emerges when your nervous system is supported by the right surroundings - environment and people. It is the authority of perspective, environmental coherence, and nervous system clarity, and it requires supportive spaces, trusted sounding boards, and choosing environments that regulate the mind and body.
Lunar Authority is an extended decision-making process to allow Calibrators to experience and reflect on the energies and influences around them, gaining clarity over time. It is the authority of cycles, reflection, and slow emergent clarity, and it requires time, environmental sampling, and moving through a full lunar cycle before truth becomes stable.
The Five Types

1. Initiator: Initiators are designed to follow inner impulses and spark new movements, ideas, and directions. They are not meant to be controlled or slowed down; their creative power emerges when they act with clarity and sovereignty.
Aura: Closed & Impactful. Their aura pushes outward and can be felt before they speak. It creates space for independent movement and protects their impulses. Others may feel curious or uncertain because they cannot “read” the Initiator’s energy.
Strategy: Inform Informing before acting reduces resistance, smooths relationships, and allows their impact to land cleanly.
Authority: Emotional, Splenic, or Ego
Life Theme: Impact. Initiators open doors, catalyze change, and set new energies in motion.
Energy Signature: Peace. Peace is the feeling of being whole within yourself. It does not depend on other people’s permission, approval, or response. Peace helps the initiator act with purpose, based on truth instead of urgency or defensiveness.
Shadow Signature: Anger. When anger arises, ask "Am I acting against what is true, or being blocked from what is?" The Initiator distinguishs resistance created from a misaligned action from frustration caused by circumstances, another person, or an unanswered response.
Where the Initiator’s Design Blossoms: Initiators thrive when they trust their impulses, act from clarity rather than fear, and maintain autonomy. Their strongest choices often arrive as a quiet, immediate recognition rather than a prolonged mental debate. When they honor that inner signal, they can respond to opportunities with precision, adapt without losing their direction, and bring their energy to the situations that genuinely engage them. Their design blossoms when instinct, clear awareness, and self-directed action work together, allowing their natural responses to become a reliable guide for meaningful progress.
2. Alchemist: Alchemists are builders, creators, and refiners. Their energy is steady, powerful, and sustainable, and they thrive when they engage in work they genuinely love.
Aura: Open & Enveloping. Their aura is warm, welcoming, and magnetic and draws the right people and opportunities toward them.
Strategy: Wait to Respond. They align by responding to what shows up. The Sacral provides a physical “yes” or “no” that guides correct action.
Authority: Sacral (Primary)
Life Theme: Mastery. Skill-building, refinement, devotion, and wisdom gained through repetition.
Energy Signature: Satisfaction. Satisfaction is a grounded sense of meaningful engagement: “this feels right.” It arises when their energy is directed toward worthwhile effort, such as completing a task, learning through practice, contributing to something valuable, or sharing a nourishing experience. When they notice what leaves them quietly fulfilled over time; this can reveal where their effort is finding an appropriate direction.
Shadow Signature: Frustration. When frustration arises, they ask "Am I trying to make something happen that hasn't been invited yet?" They notice whether they are pushing for an outcome, response, or connection before the conditions are ready. The Alchemist waits for a response, allowing the next step to emerge through genuine interest, clear receptivity, or a natural opening. Once the pressure eases, they observe what still feels alive and what can be released.
Where the Alchemist’s Design Blossoms: Alchemists thrive when they pursue what genuinely inspires and energizes them. By contrast, forcing themselves to remain in activities that feel draining or misaligned often leads to frustration, resistance, and a gradual loss of motivation. Paying attention to what naturally sparks their interest helps them recognize which experiences support their well-being and allow their strengths to emerge.
3. Time Bender: Time Benders are fast, flexible, and multi‑talented. They blend the Alchemist’s sustainable power with the Initiator’s spark, moving in bursts and often skipping steps.
Aura: Open & Enveloping (Fast) Similar to the Alchemist's aura but accelerated—magnetic, responsive, and dynamic.
Strategy: Respond → Inform. They respond first (Sacral, yes/no), then inform before moving quickly. This reduces friction with others.
Authority: Sacral (Primary) or Emotional Authority
Energy Signature: Satisfaction and Peace. Satisfaction can arise when an action feels responsive, well timed, and connected to what matters, even when the process is difficult. Peace is not certainty but steadiness when a decision no longer conflicts with inner signals. Together, these qualities clarify whether continued effort is life-giving or whether a new direction deserves attention. When satisfaction and peace align, movement remains flexible without becoming aimless, and discernment does not require absolute certainty.
Shadow Energy: Frustration and Anger. This may signal a blocked value, unmet need, unclear boundary, or mismatch between their work and what matters. Time Benders ask: What feels constrained? What expectation was violated? Is the irritation revealing exhaustion, lack of autonomy, unfairness, or a need for direct conversation? Naming the signal allows the Time Bender to respond deliberately or choose a more honest direction.
Life Theme: Innovation. Efficiency, exploration, multi‑skill mastery, and bending time through accelerated creation.
Where the Time Bender’s Design Blossoms: Time-Benders flourish when life offers room for excitement, experimentation, and variety. Rather than committing themselves to one fixed direction, they are energized by following genuine interest, discovering new possibilities, and moving between pursuits as their enthusiasm shifts. Their path may appear nonlinear to others, but it is their natural way of learning, creating, and remaining engaged.
4. Orchestrator: Orchestrators are guides, advisors, and energetic directors. They see deeply into systems, people, and patterns and are not here to do all the work themselves.
Aura: Focused & Absorbing. Their aura penetrates and absorbs others’ energy, allowing them to understand how energy can be used more efficiently.
Strategy: Wait for Recognition & Invitation. Their wisdom lands best when invited.
Authority: Emotional, Splenic, Self-Projected, or Mental/Environmental
Life Theme: Guidance. Seeing what others cannot and directing energy wisely.
Energy Signature: Success. Success is not achievement in the conventional sense — it is the experience of being truly recognized for one's gifts and invited to share them.
Shadow Signature: Bitterness: When bitterness arises, they ask, "Am I pushing into spaces where I haven’t been invited?" Orchestrator will withdraw and wait to determine whether they are seeking recognition or reciprocity where none has been offered and then redirect attention to where their presence is welcomed.
Where the Orchestrator’s Design Blossoms” Orchestrators thrive when given ample rest, spaciousness, boundaries, and environments that honor their sensitivity and where they can observe, process, and respond with greater clarity.
5. Calibrator: Calibrators are mirrors of the environment. With no defined centers, they are fluid, sensitive, and deeply attuned to the health of their community.
Aura: Sampling. Their aura samples small pieces of energy from everyone and everything, giving them a unique ability to read environments.
Strategy: Wait a Lunar cycle. Calibrators require time to experience multiple perspectives and gradually feel what is correct.
Authority: Lunar
Life Theme: Wisdom. Evaluation, clarity, and revealing what is working or what is not working.
Energy Signature: Surprise & Delight. Surprise & Delight is the capacity to be genuinely moved by what arises.
Shadow Signature: Disappointment. Calibrators ask “What does this disappointment reveals about the surrounding system?” They identify whether unclear expectations, missing support, or difficult processes contributed, then choose one practical adjustment to improve the outcome next time.
Where the Calibrator’s Design Blossoms They thrive in healthy, supportive environments where they feel secure, understood, and free to develop naturally, thereby influencing their emotional balance, confidence, and ability to express their unique strengths.

Daily Practice: It is a daily choice to live as yourself.
Human Design is about remembering who you are.
Daily practice is a way to stay aligned with your design.
Practice turns Type, Strategy, and Authority from ideas into daily choices.
Daily practice builds body awareness, reduces conditioning, supports nervous system stability, strengthens identity, creates momentum, and supports lasting change.
Five minutes each day can create more change than one hour once a week. Consistency matters more than intensity.

"Daily practice is how I remember who I am."
By honoring Type, Strategy, and Authority, energy flows coherently, decisions align with truth, and life unfolds with greater ease. This creates the foundation for greater self-understanding.
It’s important to be grounded in Type, Strategy, and Authority before digging deeper into the layers of your chart — gates, channels, circuitry, profile, or purpose - as they unlock the rest of the system and give you a reliable way to navigate life with clarity and coherence.
Aura shows how your energy operates.
Type tells you who you are.
Strategy tells you how to move.
Authority tells you what to choose.
